FOR YOUR DIARY
FRIDAY, NOV 29TH – BIG FUN CHARITY NIGHT AND TABLE QUIZ Next up on our Autumn Club entertainment programme will be a fun packed double bill on Friday, November 29th which will feature our very own Fred Newell & His Quintissential Brass Quintet together with our very first Charity Table Quiz.
You may have heard the legendary Glenn Miller, Herb Alpert or Kenny Ball but you have never experienced the brass that Fred Newell and His Quintissential Brass Quintet will bring to the Club on this momentous night. Be there and you will never forget this musical treat.
Our own Tony Brady is legendary on the Table Quz circuit and we now bring him to HGC at enormous expense to test the knowledge, wisdom and nous of our members. Tony knows our capabilities and he promises to keep the questions easy-ish. Ask a few friends to form a team. Maximum team size is four, so form a team of three or four, or just come along and join a team on the night.
It’s going to be a relaxed, fun night with a serious objective – to raise funds for the great work which Brother Kevin and his team of volunteers do at the Capucian Centre for Homeless People in Bow St. That centre provides free breakfasts, lunches and food for over 600 people per day six days per week. They welcome all people in need of food aid, whether homeless, socially excluded or just in need, in a non-judgemental manner respecting their dignity and with no questions asked.
So here is a night in the club where you can have a bit of fun and do an immense amount of good at the same time.
An added bonus will be our most personable MC on the night, the very honorable Mr John Robinson.
And for those who cannot make it, we will be holding a Members’ Raffle for this great charity with eight prizes of dinner for two in one of Howth’s top restaurants. All the very best restaurants are on offer – Aqua, Casa Pasta, Ella, The House, King Sitric, The Oar House, O’Connells and East Wine Bar. We thank them all for their generosity . Tickets are already on sale at the Club Bar, so don’t miss the opportunity of being in for a chance of a tasty night out in one of these great restaurants. Tickets only €3 each or book of four for €10. The Draw will take place at the end of the night on the 29th.
To help us know how many tables to expect, we would ask you to ring the bar and gave your name for a table. It’s not necessary – it would help – but please do come on the night.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

Founded in 1916 the heath land links style course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of “The Open” Golf Championship who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements.
James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide.
