Howth had another Herculean struggle with Hollywood Lakes in a key match for both clubs in their quest for semi-final place, with only one round left for each in the league stage.
We grafted out a win on the 18th. in one game at Hollywood Lakes but were squeezed out in the other two. At home another titan battle was being fought out and, alas, we lost one game again on the 18th. and won the other two. Possibly a fair overall result – for the unbiased!!! 6pts. each team.
In another match, the league leaders, Donabate suffered a crushing defeat 11pts. to 1pt. at the hands of Forrest Little, who have leapfrogged them to head the league, jointly with Hollywood Lakes on 41pts. We are on 32pts. and have lost only one match en route.
Our final match is V Balcarrick on Friday 18 July. Mathematically we can still qualify if we get a good result and others oblige in their concluding matches.
A note for your diary – The Gala Day will be held at Hollystown on Thursday 4 Sept. This is an individual and team event which brings down the curtain on The Fingal Seniors season and hopefully we will be well represented in this and repeat our victory of 2011 in the team competition.

Founded in 1916 the heath land links style course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of “The Open” Golf Championship who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements.
James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide.
