Next week is the May 9 Hole H’cap. Qualifying Competition. Entry by GUI. card and First Nine only in play for this competition.
If it has slipped your notice that we are sorely in need of “sponsors”, so if you have already paid your water charge etc. and still have a few bob left, you might consider a philanthropic gesture and gain immortal recognition by including your name on our results board as an esteemed sponsor!

Howth had a magnificent victory in the second round of the Barton Cup against The Links Portmarnock, winning two matches out of three away (& only losing the top match on the 18th) on Sunday the 10th May. At home we won one match and the other match was called in with Howth one down after 16. The Manager, Colm Carton & the Assistant Manager, Declan Fallon and all the team are to be commended for a fine performance in trying and difficult conditions.
We now look forward to the next match, which I understand will be against the holders Corrstown Golf Club.
The Team was as follows
Home:
1. Brendan Smyth & Martin Cleary – called in on the 17th 1 down
2. Conor Collier & Ciaran Kelly – won 4 & 3
Away:
1. Shane McKiernan & Gerry McCarthy – lost one down
2. Sam Kelly & Ken Williams – won 3 & 2
3. Brian McGrath & David Quinn – won 3 & 2

Founded in 1916 the heath land links style course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of “The Open” Golf Championship who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements.
James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide.
