29 competitors braved the miserable stormy conditions and several good scores were achieved to prove what can be done when one puts one’s mind to it! It is sad to realise that we have only a couple of evenings left before we draw down the curtain on our season but it has been a terrific year and the winner of The League Trophy is still to be decided with several contenders eyeing each other anxiously.
First Prize presented by: Fred Newell
Winner: Willie Callaghan 21pts.
2nd. Michael O’Connor 19pts.
3rd. Ray O’Hanlon 17pts.(19-2prev.)
Twosies: The weather succeeded in preventing all the optimists from doing the business!
Only two nights left and then our Final on Sat. 5 Oct. Get your names down for the golf and dinner. Table Plan will be available next week.

Founded in 1916 the heath land links style course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of “The Open” Golf Championship who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements.
James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide.
