Veterans qualify by playing off white tees, 9 holes, max handicap 16 and be over 65 on 1st January. Veterans qualify to win in all categories plus the veterans section.

Fingal Seniors V Forrest Little – Result

Our fifth round match against Forrest Little resulted in a hard fought draw. We won 2 games at home and lost one on the 18th. after a titanic fight back , which just came up short.
The away team secured a well deserved win in one game but sadly lost the other two.
Overall the standard of golf was mind blowing from both sides, with wins hard to get even with pars.
Our next assignment is V Hollywood Lakes on Thursday 3 July. Our qualifying requirement curve is getting a little steeper, but we can do it ….”is feidir linn”!!!
Overall result: Howth 6pts. Forrest Little 6pts.

A message from the Captains’ regarding the Captains Charity

Each year the Captain and Lady Captain choose a charity which will be the beneficiary of our annual fundraising Captains’ Golf Charity four person team event, which takes place this year on August 22nd.

This year we have chosen LauraLynn Ireland’s only children’s hospice.

This charity was founded by Jane and Brendan McKenna who began fundraising for a hospice facility after tragically losing both their daughters Laura and Lynn.

LauraLynn Charity now cares for children with life limiting conditions and their families by providing transitional care, home support, respite and end-of-life care.

We can only imagine the awful pain of being told that your child or grandchild has a terminal illness.

Can we ask you to consider trying to get support from your friends, customers, clients, suppliers or whomever. If you can help in this regard we can give you letters with attachments for you to sign and issue.

This is a most worthy charity which is wholly dependent on fundraising income and none of the fundraising money is used for executive salaries or salary top ups.

Please help us to make this a real success and a credit to the members of Howth Golf Club.

48 competitors turned out to enjoy another gorgeous Summer’s evening and experience the course at it’s best. Despite the “favourable” conditions scoring proved  difficult – except for one. There’s always one!!!

Founded in 1916 the heath land links style course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of “The Open” Golf Championship who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements.

James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide.
