JB Carr Trophy
Unfortunately the JB Carr team ran up against a juggernaut in the quarter finals of the Dublin North section of the JB Carr competition, which was played over the famed blue and red course in Malahide GC on Thursday. Jimmy Rock, affable manager of the Malahide team sent out a team of veritable youngsters, with handicaps to match, against our more seasoned campaigners:- Gerry Barry, Ed O’Neill, Paddy Archer, Joe Cull, Tom O’Connor, Captain Joe Richardson, Declan Fallon, John Costello, Finntan Archer, and Robbie Maguire. While the Malahide greens constantly tested our gallant ten, the match was played in the most sporting manner, and was a credit to both teams. Indeed it was not until the 17th hole that the Richardson O’Connor team finally raised the white flag to the continuous onslaught of this well prepared Malahide team. I would like to offer my thanks to the efforts of both the Howth and Malahide teams in providing us with an excellent match, and I am hoping that next year will be Howth’s year, even if some of the members of the team are showing early signs of “where is my ball”.
