The 60th Wooden Spoon match versus Sutton Golf Club was held to-day (13th March 2016) at Howth Golf Club. Eleven pairings, lead by the Captain and Vice Captain in the top match, set off at 12 noon on both nines in glorious weather conditions. When the last pairing reached the club house the result was a resounding victory for Howth Golf Club – 8 & 1/2 to 2 & 1/2. At the dinner the Captain, Paddy Cooney, took great pleasure in presenting the Wooden Spoon Trophy to the Captain of Sutton Golf Club (Robert Sinnott).

The Wooden Spoon Match was initiated by The Captain of Howth Golf Club in 1956, C. W Eyre and his Sutton counterpart of that year.
